Description of Broome: Broome is a fascinating port and resort town on the western edge of the continent. Its origins as a pearling port introduced a multicultural population of divers. The Japanese dominated until World War II when Broome was evacuated then attacked by the Japanese. Today the pearls of Broome are cultivated rather than retrieved.
