Once a volcanic island Cape Bridgewater, now joined to the mainland, is part of Discovery Bay Coastal Park. This rugged and spectacular portion of the Victorian coastline is located 19 km west of Portland. A walking track leads from the Blowholes carpark to spectacular spouts of sea spray, outstanding lookout points and a viewing platform at Cape Bridgewater which overlooks one of the largest colonies of Australian fur seals on the mainland. To the west of Cape Bridgewater are Bridgewater Beach, the Marine Ecology Centre and Shelley Beach. Excellent holiday accommodation is available at Cape Bridgewater.
