Hotel & Motel Accommodation in Birregurra, VictoriaBirregurra, 18 km east of Colac on the Barwon River, is a small rural hamlet which has some quaint shops with sloping timber verandahs and a history dating back as far as Colac. An Aboriginal mission operated at Birregurra from 1839 to 1848. A fine remnant of Birregurra's early days is Christ Church (1870-71). The bell was recovered from the mission buildings. Off the Birregurra Road is Tarndwarncoort homestead (1848). The Polwarth breed of sheep was established here in 1880. There is a good wool craft store on the property. Farmstay accommodation is available at Birregurra.
